Private pilot checkride documents checklist: how to verify it

Organize applicant, knowledge-test, logbook, aircraft, and IACRA evidence against the current rules and ACS.

Build from the current sources

Use the current Private Pilot Airplane ACS, the applicable eligibility and practical-test sections of Part 61, current AC 61-65K endorsement guidance, IACRA instructions, and the examiner's coordination message. A stale internet checklist is not the controlling source.

Applicant packet

Create a section for identity and certificates, medical qualification as applicable, knowledge-test report, application/IACRA status, aeronautical-experience evidence, required training records, endorsements, and any knowledge-test deficiency review. Ask the recommending instructor to verify the completed packet.

Aircraft packet

Coordinate aircraft registration, airworthiness certificate, operating limitations, weight and balance, maintenance/inspection evidence, and any other required records with the aircraft operator and instructor. Never alter or invent aircraft data to make a workbook complete.

Readiness is larger than documents

The current ACS integrates knowledge, risk management, and skill. A perfect binder cannot compensate for weak decisions or flight performance. Use the binder to reveal gaps and reduce administrative distraction, not to perform for the examiner.

Put it into action

Private Pilot Checkride Binder

Show up with an examiner-ready document packet and know exactly which ACS areas still need work — no examiner mind-reading required.
